 Corrections to Rules of Professional Conduct and Lawyer Disciplinary Procedure
The West Virginia State Bar and the Office of Disciplinary Council want to notify attorneys that certain sections of Michie's West Virginia Code Annotated, State Court Rules 2016 are incorrect. Correct links to the incorrect sections are as follows:

 Moot Court Judges Needed

 The National Energy and Sustainability Moot Court Competition, hosted March 3-5 by WVU Law, is looking for volunteer judges. For the early rounds, a judge must be an attorney of good standing licensed to practice law in any state. Final round (March 5 afternoon) judges must be a federal or state appellate judge. Now in its sixth year, the competition attracts exceptional law students from across the country. Interested parties should contact Samantha Stefanov at for more details. 2016 Interest Rate
The following Administrative Order was entered by Chief Justice Ketchum regarding the 2016 interest rate to be paid upon judgments and decrees.  As a result, the rate of interest for calendar year 2016 for judgments and decrees for the payment of money entered on or after January 1, 2016, is set at seven percent (7.00%).

The Unlawful Practice Committee has updated its interpretation of the word "transfer" as contained in Rule 8 of the Supreme Court's Amended Rules for the Practice of Law.

Approval of Rule 3.29 of the Rules of Lawyer Disciplinary Procedure
By order entered October 14, 2015, the Court approved amendments to Rule 3.29 of the West Virginia Rules of Lawyer Disciplinary Procedure with regard to the appointment of trustees.
Approval of Amendments to the West Virginia Code of Judicial Conduct

On November 12th, 2015 the following order was made and entered by the Supreme Court of Appeals.

 Approval of Amendments to the West Virginia Rules of Procedure for Child Abuse and Neglect Proceedings

By order entered November 9, 2015, the Court approved amendments to the West Virginia Rules of Procedure for Child Abuse and Neglect Proceedings, effective immediately.

It has been announced by the West Virginia State Bar's Lawyer Assistance Program Board of Directors that DTCWV member Todd Mount, Shaffer & Shaffer, Madison, WV has agreed to serve as the Program's Volunteer Coordinator.  The Volunteer Coordinator will serve as a liaison between the Board and the LAP Director to locate and coordinate work needed to grow the Program's capacity of meeting its mission of assisting lawyers who develop physical or mental infirmity, substance abuse or other problems that interfere with a lawyer's provision of services.
