DRI Awards Presented to Our Very Own

During the recent DRI Virtual Annual Meeting two of our very own were presented very prestigious DRI Awards.

Marc E. Williams, Nelson Mullins, Huntington, DRI Past President and DTCWV Past President received the Louis B. Potter Lifetime Professional Services Award.  The criteria for this award, in addition to be a DRI member, is:

"Professionalism goes beyond observance of the legal profession’s ethical rules and serves the best interests of clients and the public in general. Professionalism requires that lawyers conduct themselves before the Court and with opposing counsel in a manner which demonstrates respect for the law and preserves decorum and integrity of the judicial process. It preserves and enhances the image of the legal profession in the eyes of the public. It supports programs and activities to educate the public about the law and the American legal system and it fosters respect and trust among lawyers.”

Jill Cranston Rice, Dinsmore & Shohl, LLP, Morgantown, DTCWV Past President and DRI WV State Representative received the DRI State Representative of the Year Award.  The criteria for this award, in addition to being a DRI member, is:

1) Made significant contributions toward promoting DRI membership within his/her state;
2) Been instrumental in implementing a significant, unique program to foster the relationship between DRI and the SLDO to enhance DRI’s stature; and/or
3) Enhanced the public’s view of the role of the defense lawyer in the broader society.
West Virginia members continue to be recognizable contributors and leaders throughout the country for their professionalism, service to DRI and the civil defense position.
